Salwan Health & Holistic Care Centre in JJ
Colony at Inderpuri, New Delhi inaugurated on 6th July 2019 is
another milestone of the Salwan Education Trust which houses a
Health & Research Centre and a Charitable Homeopathic Clinic. Salwan
Education Trust is endeavouring to provide holistic health care
solution to the residents of Inderpuri and neighboring areas. The
Homeopathic Clinic is benefitting 50000 residents of JJ Colony and
is meeting the Salwan Education Trust’s endevour of providing
medical facilities within the reach of residents at a very nominal
fee of Rs 100/-, which also includes medicine costs for one week.
Extremely poor patients, unable to pay even the minimal fees are
provided consultation fee and medicines free of cost.
Salwan Health & Holistic Care Centre, Inderpuri, New Delhi is
providing infrastructural support to Max Healthcare Research unit
for Non communicable disease Screening. The ambition of the Global
Health Research Unit (GHRU) on Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease
in South Asians is to create an inter-disciplinary environment that
fosters development and implementation of acceptable, equitable,
scalable and sustainable approaches to reduce the burden of type-2
diabetes (T2D) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in South Asia.
The surveillance project, in North India, is being led by Principal
investigator Dr.Sujeet Jha. This project provides type-2 diabetes
(T2D) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) screening and consists of
health assessments such as Fasting Blood Sugar, Total Cholesterol,
ECG, Spirometry (Lung Function Test), Retinal Imaging, Blood
Pressure, Anthropometric Measures and a Health and Lifestyle
Questionnaire to better understand Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
amongst the South Asian Population. The center uses digital
high-quality health assessments that are delivered by a research
trained technical team.
The centre has been running successfully since June 2019 and some of
the centre’s achievements till date include:
1. NCD screening of 4200+ individuals
2. 5500+ households approached for screening
3. 800+ individuals referred to the physician
The location of SH&HCC has proven to be useful in catering to the
needs of those who are less fortunate in the community due to which
the research unit is able to provide screening of type-2 diabetes
(T2D) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) to the urban slum dwellers of
Inderpuri. Having received a great response from the population
residing near Salwan Charitable Dispensary, the centre looks forward
to making an impressive impact to reduce the burden of type-2
diabetes (T2D) and cardiovascular disease (CVD).
