6th Dec 2009:Our institution is organizing 75^th founder’s day on Sunday, the 6 dec 2009 (from 9 am onwards) at Salwan school ground, old Rajinder Nagar New Delhi. , we will be organizing a number of sports activities, cultural events along with the March Past to make this day memorable.

 5th Sep 2009 :We celebrated the Teachers' Day at the India International Centre, Lodhi Road. Dr. Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, member, planning commission of India. Who graced the occasion as our chief guest. (Retd.) Air vice Marshall, Vishwa Mohan Tiwari and other distinguished guest were present. Dr. Syeda is a recipient of the prestigious Padama Shree award in year 2007 and several other decorations.

March 2010 : SALWANIANS MARCH FORWARD TO VICTORY YET AGAIN IN THE ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

Marching Forward 2010, was indeed a spectacular event which brought forward talent of the little ones leaving the parents overwhelmed.

The Chief Guest Hon’ble Mr Justice S. Ravindra Bhat appreciated the teamwork and lauded the champions wholeheartedly.

Each event was laced with a message relevant to the present be it Salwanians join the roar to save the tigers which focused on the need to save the environment or emphasis on physical fitness in the Joggers Park.

The brave in the making was evident in the heroic acts of slithering on ropes and breaking tiles with bare hands.

The synchronization seen in the graceful body movements in the Krishna’s flute fantasy connected with divinity.

The super skaters zooming with energy.Poise and confidence earned themselves thunderous applause and so did the oxyrich buddies of aerobics enthused energy with their foot tapping. The Grand Finale on the beats of Azeemo Shaan Shehanshah captured the pristine beauty of Kallari, Lazium and Marshal dances where they amalgamated beautifully and the children deserved the admiration and appreciation they got from the audience through the standing ovation they got as they bowed in the end.
 

22nd-23rd Dec 2009 : HURRAY! Salwan Montessori Rajinder Nagar Children hold school flag high.

We are pleased to inform you that our children made us proud by winning medals in the Inter School Roller Skating Championship 2009 organized by Netaji Subhash Sports and Welfare Association at Kamal Public School, Vikas Puri on 22nd & 23rd December’09.More than 25 schools from all over Delhi participated in the event. Our little Salwanians bagged gold, silver and bronze medals in both the categories under 4 years and 4-5 years.

17th-21st Aug 2009 : The story of India’s freedom struggle was simplified and told to the children in the Discover India Week from 17^th -21^st, August’09.The KG Children dressed up as Freedom Fighters relived the past with stories of valour and bravery and students of Nursery came dressed in traditional dresses of different states. The teachers explained the costumes, traditions, eating habits, festivals of the various states.

8th Aug 2009 :SMS celebrates Independence Day with a passionate desire to spread the  message of unity, love & peace.The 15th Blood Donation Camp on 8th August’09 in association with Armed Forces Transfusion Centre was inaugurated by Maj.Gen.P.K. Chakravorty.The bond of partnership between the Parents and the School was evident in the following events:
Food Festival, Kite Flying, Chess, Basketball shooting, Skipping competition,Jewellery Designing Competition, Fun Games, Art Expression.

18th Jan 2010:Future Cities India 2020 -Competition organized by Bentley Systems India Pvt. Ltd. along with the Ministry of Science and Technology. The topic for the event was ‘Re-development of Chandni Chowk’. Mr. Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble Minister of HRD was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The school team bagged the first prize for the ‘Best Computer Model.’ The team constituted of Adeesh Bhatia, XI, Akansha Rawat, XI, Lokesh Mishra, XI and Sachin Kukreja, XI.

27th March 2010 : Sports Day :-G.D Salwan Public School organized its Annual Sports Day on 27th March '10 at the Salwan School Grounds , Rajinder Nagar.The annual event " Scaling Heights " was an attempt to showcase the zeal and enthusiasm of the tiny tots. Honorable Mr. Sanjay Bhatia ( Addtnl.DCP ) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest .The programme commenced with the lighting of the torch followed by the young contingents depicting unity , strength and dynamism . They marched step in step displaying enormous sense of pride . The Acrobatic Gusto and the Fitness Mantra exhibited a mixture of alertness , focus and balance through exercises .

26th March 2010 : Climate Change/Earth Hour :-On 26th March 2010, G.D. Salwan Public school organized a special assembly to raise awareness amongst the students on the most sensitive issue – CLIMATE CHANGE.

Jan 2010 : Soham Chaudhary of class VIII secured the percentile score of 99.27 in 12^th National Science Olympiad conducted by National Science Olympiad with all India -402, city rank-32, and state rank -32. Other rank holders of different classes are- Akshat Gupta of class V with percentile score 91.92, Tushaar Malik of class VI with percentile score 92.04, Shivam shukla of class VII with percentile score 91.87.

24th Dec 2009 : g.d.salwan students joyfully participated in Christmas celebrations in high spirits. Carol singing by salwan choir, nativity play and dance by senior students were the part of the event. Santa claus on its beggi enthralled all the students and joyfully sang jingle bells. Students took joyrides with their santa. The programme concluded with the merry Christmas note by school principal.

1st Nov 2009 : g.d. Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar celebrated its Annual Day with great fervour on 1st Nov’09 at the Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg.The evening unravelled to the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a welcome address by the Principal Ms. Vijaylaxmi Singh.Hon’ble Mr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman CBSE graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.  Other guests to embellish the event were  Dr. Roopa Salwan ,  Trustee Salwan Education Trust and Mr. Shrivardhan Trivedi  Trustee , Literacy India.

Sep 2009 : G.D Salwan has won II prize in National Level Poster Making competition, Under the project IMPACTS (environmental issues) organized by Teri. Aug 2009: Visit to DMRC Museum: The students and staff of g.d Salwan Public School ( class IX and XI), got an opportunity to visit the DMRC museum located at Patel Chowk, New Delhi. We got to know quite a lot of interesting facts about this project and our students also got a chance to interact with operational and maintenance head of DMRC.
 

	31st July 2009 : Premchand Diwas: Premchand Diwas was celebrated on 31st July 09. The programme commenced with a series of short play, depicting the various aspects of life, based on Premchand’s novels. A play called “Nadaan Dost” was presented by the students of class VI.

	FRUIT-A-DAY : To inculcate the importance of fruits in children fruit-a-day activity was conducted for nursery classes. Children dressed up as different fruits and spoke  about their importance .Children made fruit chaat with the help of the teacher and enjoyed eating it.
	25th March 2009 : Workshop on Disaster Management- g. d. Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar, organised a Workshop on ‘Disaster Management’ on 25th March 2009. The objective of the workshop was to establish a better understanding on the role of schools in Disaster Management, to plan and emphasize the importance of having Disaster/ Emergency plans within the frequent drills and exercise.

29th July 2009 :  The Community Lunch Program was platform organized by the early childhood department of the g.d. Salwan Public School.A Cricket Match between the Nursery and K.G. Parents was conducted with the winning team receiving medals on the occasion .The program started on a musical and dance note .Dance performances by the children was highly appreciated by the parents. Parents were invited to showcase their talents and a number of enthusiastic parents took part. An Art Competition on the theme Environment in which parents participated enthusiastically. Games like Musical chairs and Tug of War was part of the schedule.Parents contributed lunch typical to their community which was shared by one and all .The winners were given prizes by the principal.The Community Lunch Program contributed to the educational project and advancement of culture not only in school but of childhood as a whole.

22nd July 2009 : Solar Eclipse-  To witness the dark magic- The Solar Eclipse of the century” 50 children of classes 6,7,8,9 went to Vijay Chowk, India Gate and had a lifetime experience for all. They left at 5:30 am from the school premises and were till 7:30 to see this.
 

13th July 2009 : To celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna and Independence Day, the nursery and k.g. wing of the g.d. Salwan Public school organized a special assembly. Children dressed as cowherds, gopis, Krishna, national leaders and symbols. Children danced to the tunes of Yashomati Maiya and Choti choti gaiya. Children enacted as national symbols and leaders to infuse the spirit of unity and patriotism.



4th July 2009 : A plantation drive on ridge area was done with collaboration of M.N.C on 4 July 2009.  The area with less forest cover was planted with saplings of Jamun, neem, kaner and pepal trees.  The boys and girls working with the company were very enthusiastic about planting trees. They dug up holes, added fertilizers and watered the saplings our principal was also very supportive and thanked them for the green cause.

13^th Nov 2009 : ‘Parv-Utsav’, a sports festival was organized on 13^th November, 2009.  Mr. Ramakant Goswami, M.L.A, Congress graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.  The main theme of the event was the fusion of Indian festivals and races. The primary students looked resplendent and vibrant in their colourful attires as they enacted and participated in the fun races based on the different festivals celebrated throughout the year in calendar order. It also provided the perfect opportunity to strengthen association with the parents and grandparents of the primary students as they enthusiastically participated in the races.  The Principal, Mrs Rima Ailawadi, reaffirmed on the need for parents and teachers to work together for the further progress of the students as they are the little adults in the making and also the world’s tomorrow. The special guests of the celebration were the children from the NGO, Vijayavigyan who also participated the races and won several prizes.

12^th Nov 2009 : Congratulations to Navya Sharma (Std. VI) for being one of the 15 National finalists in Doodle4Google Competition 2009 in the 4^th to 6^th Std. category !  

Nov. 2009 : The school celebrated the Halloween Day to make the students aware about the western ritual related to early American Harvest Festivals.  The students staged the weird celebration depicting evil beliefs. The event involved decoration candies, costumes and the enactment of Halloween night pranks.

3rd Nov. 2009 : a Workshop on 'Volunterism' by Swechha NGO linked with UN was orgainsed for students of Std. IX. The objective of the workshop was opening the students to the idea of volunteering and helping them identify ways in which each of them can become green hereos.

31^st Oct 2009 : A workshop for teachers on ‘Children with Special Needs’ was conducted by the school counseller.

31st Oct 2009 : A workshop on CCE was organised for parents and students of Std. IX to create awareness about the details of the new education and assessment system and to answer the frequently asked questions about the same. The parents were very happy with the school's endeavour to apprise them of the latest C CE system given by CBSE. The enthusiastic participation of the parents substantiated that the workshop was successful and more importantly fruitful.

29th Oct. 2009 : SPS Afternoon brought laurels to the school by bagging the II Position in the 4th North Zone Skating Championship held at SJS International School (Samalkha, Panipat)

23rd, 24th, 26th Oct. 2009 : SPS Afternoon won the U/14 Girls Championship. Simran Arora of Class VII was declared the Best Athlete of the U/14 Girls category. Yash Prakash was declared the Best Athelete in the U/14 category.

24th Oct 2009 : To educate the students about the culture and heritage of Delhi a 'Dilli Darshan' tour was organised for IV and V Std. The students visited the Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Red Fort and Zoo.

15th Oct 2009 : SPS Afternoon family celebrated Diwali, “The Festival of Lights” with much fanfare and gaiety. The celebration was marked by organizing Rangoli making, Pot and Diya decoration competitions for students at various levels in school. Traditional Diwali Lakshami Pooja was also organized. The little learners of Std. III enacted a few scenes from the epic ‘Ramayana’.

12th-14th Oct 2009 : The sports students brought laurels to the school by bagging the Ist, IInd and IIIrd poistion under various categories in the 7th Central Delhi District Athletics Meet organised in Ramjas Sports Complex.

12th-14th Oct 2009 : The Volley Ball Junior and Sub Junior Girls Team bagged the First Position in Zonal Volley Ball Championship held at Salwan Girls Sr. Sec. School.

3^rd-5^th Oct 2009 : a team of 4 students (Karan Soni, Nishant sachdeva, Vibhav Malhotra and Sahil) won the III position in Delhi State Archery Championship held in I P College.   

3^rd - 4^th Oct 2009: Prakhar Bhardwaj (V C) won a Silver Medal in the CBSE North Zone Taekwondo Championship 2009 held in Vidya Jain Public School. He has been selected to participate in CBSE National Taekwondo Championship to be held in Indore.

25th Sept 09 : An educational and entertaining trip to Railway Museum was organised for class I. The rich collection of real life vintage steam engines, diesel and electric locomotives and coaches. A ride on the joy train is very popular with kids.  

24^th-26^th Sep 09: Lakshay Nagpal (VIII C) and Lakshita Bansal (VI B) brought laurels to the school by winning a Gold Medal in U/14 Boys category and U/19 girls category (Team championship) respectively in the CBSE North Zone-I Chess Championship. Lakshit Bansal also bagged a Gold Medal in U/19 Girls 5^th Board Prize winner category. Both the students have been selected to particiapte in CBSE National Championship to be held in Punjab. 

5^th Sep 2009: A gala cultural event was organized on Teacher’s Day. Teachers participated on stage for ramp walks and games. Sumptuous lunch followed by a visit to Adventure Park made the day memorable for the teachers.

4^th Sep 2009 :’Magic of Sports’, a presentation on Athletics was given by Mr. Satish Sharma (HOD Sports) on PTM day. Parents of selective students were invited and made aware of changing trends in sports, scientific training, nutritional and dietary requirements and career options in the field of sports.   

Aug 2009 : The Middle School students of SPS Afternoon became eco-partners with an NGO recently and set up a ‘Herbal Garden’ within the school premises. The educational objectives behind this move were to develop practical knowledge about the growing conditions needed by plants, increased vocabulary about biological names and sensitivity towards environment.  

 Aug 2009 :  SPS Afternoon has been designated as one of the lead schools by Dept. of Environment, Govt. of  NCT of Delhi. for its planned  scheme called Eco-clubs in schools and colleges of Delhi towards sensitizing the students on environmental issues. As a lead school SPS Afternoon shall be interacting and advising the attached schools under it for the Eco-club activities to be undertaken.

14^th - 17^th Aug 2009 : Nishant Sachdeva of class VIII A participated in the 2^nd Mini National Archery Championships for Boys and Girls in Vijayawada, (A.P.)

Aug 2009: The creativity of the students at primary level (classes IV & V) was challenged by getting them to make cards to commemorate the 62^nd Independence Day.

   Aug 2009 : Inter-house Solo Dance Competition was organized to celebrate Independence Day.   

 Aug 2009 :  Cultural programme was organized to celebrate Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals. It was celebrated to spread a joint message of togetherness, profuse religious fervour, mirth and grandeur.  

 31^st July 2009: Rakhi Making Competition was organized for classes I, II & III to strengthen the bond between brothers and sisters.

May  2009 : Burhan Nabi of Std. IX has won a scholarship of $1,000 from the Duke University, USA, wherein he would attend a workshop at IIM -Ahmedabad from 17^th May 2009 for a period of 3 weeks.

Sep 2009 : MUSIC WORKSHOP -Music widens the horizon of mind and body and leads to the overall development of the child. To refine the artistic skills of the children and to create awareness and love for Classical music, Music workshops were organized at SPS(Rajinder Nagar) by Salwan Montessori School, Rajinder Nagar. 11 students of our school attended the music workshop presided by Ms. Zila Khan, a renowned sufi singer and daughter of legendary Sitar Maestro, Ustad Vilayat Khan. The workshop was conducted in seven sessions. The children got an opportunity to learn nuances of Classical Music and were acquainted with Sufi Bandhs.

26th-30th Aug 2009 : 3^rd STATE STATE JUDO CHAMPIONSHIP ,2009-The  3^rd state state judo championship ,2009 was held at shiv mandir naraina  village ,new delhi from 26.08.09 till 30.08.09 where more than 45 school’s participated . Total 13 medal  ( 04 SILVER and    09 BRONZE ) were won by our school,

24th-28th Aug 2009 : MATHS WEEK-Maths learning can be fun but only when accompanied with fun-filled exercises and hands-on experience-tasks. Therefore, various activities were carried out during the Maths week such as, addition using rajma, chana, magnetic boards, number cards; making greeting cards using geometrical shapes; cutting and pasting of geometrical shapes for measurement; making 3-D structures using straws, Classes IV and V were taught 2-3 digit multiplication using Vedic Maths.

13th Aug 2009 :  THE 62ND INDEPENDENCE DAY-To develop the spirit of brotherhood and patriotism amongst young Salwanians, we celebrated the 62nd Independence Day in the school. Ms. Geetika Sharma, Joint Director, Department of Child and Women Welfare was invited as the ‘Chief Guest’. The students celebrated the occasion by singing patriotic songs, staging a skit and a cultural dance show.

1st -13th Aug 2009 : HEALTH WEEK - “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease”. To make our children more health conscious, SJPS celebrated “Health Awareness Week”. The event commenced with a seminar for teachers in which “Nutritional Concerns of Women” were discussed by an eminent nutritionist, Dr. Monika Wasuja. Pediatricians were invited to the school to provide health awareness tips to the children.  Various competitions like preparation of healthy food, art competition, slogan writing and designing a balanced diet were organized.

11th Aug 2009 : INVESTITURE CEREMONY -It’s important to instill leadership qualities in children from the beginning which leads to building up of self confidence and working in harmony.Therefore, SJPS held it’s Investiture Ceremony on 11th August, 2009. The new sets of prefects were assigned their posts officially. The student’s council pledged to serve their duties with utmost sincerity and dignity.


9th May 2009 :  Jeet – Kune – do Delhi State Championship 2009-Jeet – Kune – do Delhi State Championship  2009 was held at Bapu Sadan Sports Complex, New Delhi on 9^th May 09. 40 schools from all over Delhi participated in it. Our school children brought laurels to our school by winning one gold and four silver medals. 

2nd April 2009 :  SJPS CELEBRATED FOUNDATION DAY

2nd April 2009:  ASTRONOMY CLUB ACTIVITY – STAR  GAZING  WORKSHOP :The workshop was conducted by SPACE Technology and Education Pvt. Ltd. The children got an opportunity to observe celestial objects clearly through a telescope. Different activities such as phases of moon; observing Celestial Bodies through telescope; locating the bright constellation, etc were carried out where students as well as the parents enjoyed the beauty of the night sky.

21 Nov 2009: Annual Day -The effort, the hard work, the determination of the students came alive on the stage of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar – III, portraying the famous Russian Ballet from Bolshoi’s Theatre ‘The Swan Lake’ on 21st November 2009 on its 13th Annual Day Celebrations. The remarkable performance by the children was highly appreciated which cost a magic spell and took one and all to the land of fantasy. The function was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Ms. Vijay Lakshmi K. Gupta, Member Finance and Ex-officio Secretary to Govt. of India. The school was also honoured to have Mr. M. Vardarajan, President of Alliance Françoise, Delhi, as the Guest of Honour. The other attractions of the day were the soul stirring English songs by the Choir Group and the Mime Show which had a thought provoking message to impart on the children who are deprived of their childhood and education and are condemned to life long poverty by being child labourers. This surely left a deep impact on everybody’s minds. The gala evening came to an end with Vote of Thanks rendered by Mr. Rajeev Sharma, the Parent Representative.

25^th April 2009 : 9^th Annual Atheletic Meet was organized on Saturday 25^th april 2009 in the school ground. Ms. Shovana Narayan was our chief guest.  Students presented various dance form on the theme Vasudev Kutumbkam.  Various dance forms on the rythem of the music.  After this spectacular show we began with our races.  Annual awards for the year 2008 were given to the winners.  Finally the Grand Finale Global Village depicted the rich cultural heritage of India

Oct 2009 :Our Principal Dr. Indu Khetarpal has received the 2009 Endeavour Executive Award. The Endeavour Award is an internationally competitive merit based scholarship programme given by the Australian Government for high achievers in business, industry and education to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Dr. Khetarpal was in Australia from September 7 to October 7, 2009.

 Sep 2009 :Dr. Savita Upadhyaya has received the Merit Award 2009 given by ‘Hindi Bhasha and Sahitya Parishad, Hardwar’ for her pioneering work entitled ‘Bhakti Kal Ke Premakhyan’.
