Wq. Cdr. Ravi Kumar (Retd.)

Wg. Cdr. Ravi Kumar (Retd.) an ex-Salwanian
(1955-58) is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University. He acquired his
degree in Electrical Engineering from BHU in 1968 and AMIE in 1972
(during service).
In his career span of 33 years with Indian
Air Force, he served as Aeronautical Engineer in various capacities after
receiving initial training at Air Force Technical college, Bangalore. As
maintenance engineer, worked on various fighter aircraft in use in the
IAF including the latest acquisition Mirage- 2000 for which he was duly
trained in France. He was awarded commendation by AOC-IN-C.
He held various important assignments like
Chief Engineer and Senior engineer at Air Force Station Suratgarh and
Agra respectively after having completed a 5 years long stint at Air HQ (Vayu
Bhavan) as Deputy Director (Avionics) wherein he was responsible for
procuring equipments for use on Mirage-2000 ac from France after
conducting meaningful negotiations with foreign representatives from M/s
Dassault and TH CSF. His last assignment was as chief engineer of
Standards and Calibration Laboratory at AMSE, Delhi Cantt which he held
for a period of 6 years. He was responsible for getting the Lab
accredited by National Accreditation Board for testing and Calibration
Laboratories (NABL).
Besides technical duties he also qualified
as GTO (Group Testing Officer) from Directorate of Psychological Research
(DIPR) New Delhi and was actively engaged in the process of selection of
suitable candidates in the officer cadre for the three services at SSB,
Dehradun.
Above all Wg. Cdr. Ravi Kumar is a keen
player of Tennis.
