Teach me to walk and I shall run,
Teach me to look and I shall see,
Teach me to hear and I shall listen,
Teach me to sing and I shall rejoice,
For your instructions are imprinted on my mind,
And your shared experience I shall keep,
What I have learned, I shall treasure,
And by learning to fly,
I shall soar!
Away from Suppression –towards freedom of intellect, soul and spirit.
Every member of the Salwan family-be it the Chairman of the Trust, The Hon'ble Trustees, Members of Managing Committee of the various schools run under the aegis of the Trust, Principals, Faculty, Students and their parents are dreamers and achievers.
The logo of the Trust -'The Rising Sun' and the motto 'Tamso ma Jyotirgamaya' is the very essence of the Trust's Philosophy - to spread the light of knowledge and understanding, to shun darkness and forge ahead, carving a niche for themselves - Salwanians too stand out in a crowd like the sun in all its glory rather than being one of the crowd, serving the society selflessly, overcoming the limitations of caste, creed, colour and religion.
Committed to the cause of serving the society and the nation by providing education to all , the philosophy is not only to impart teaching instructions but to develop right attitudes without which an individual can neither actualise his true potential nor contribute meaningfully to the society.
The vision is also to remove unnatural boundaries for a child, enabling the mind to be free, so that flow of ideas are not restrained. Therefore, all the schools run by the Trust , are aesthetically designed, keeping the concept of space in mind . A healthy and friendly environment synchronizes with the learning process.
The institutions run under the aegis of the Trust draw inspiration from Tagore’s words, hence all kinds of suppression are eliminated , as they firmly believe that creativity is stifled by fear.
The Trust believes in chasing dreams - and is committed to doing different things with a difference and so- of changing the present day education system to provide freedom and space to each child to grow at his own pace.
Its vision is to churn out thinkers , creators, leaders in every field, be it education, science, sports or technology- producing not only successful engineers and doctors, but also honest bureaucrats, musicians, artists, dancers , sportspersons, and teachers of International acclaim.
Firmly rooted in the Indian culture, the constant endeavour of the Trust is to prepare the Salwanians to accept the challenges of a global village, through promotion of inter faith culture , tolerance and value based education.
Thus there is a perceptible paradigm shift at Salwan from assimilation of data and information towards providing opportunities for self learning, experimentation and developing thinking skills.
One of his students asked Buddha, "Are you the messiah?"
"No", answered Buddha.
"Then are you a healer?"
"No", Buddha replied.
"Then are you a teacher?" the student persisted.
"No, I am not a teacher."
"Then what are you?" asked the student, exasperated.
"I am awake", Buddha replied. |
